Johnny, We Loved You

Between Ronald Reagan back in June and Johnny Carson this morning, America has lost two of its most quintessential pop culture icons.

It seems rather fitting to remember one of Carson’s sketches when he impersonated Reagan. Besides the fact that Reagan himself was a guest on The Tonight Show November 26, 1970, any fan of Carson knows that he did a brilliant Reagan impersonation, and this sketch was among the most memorable.

This sound bite of the complete sketch (2.35mb WAV file) was originally all I had to offer, but Larry King just played a portion of it. If I can ever find it, I’ll later update this entry with the complete video clip. For now, here’s the truncated video that I digitized from CNN (5.12mb QuickTime movie file).
