Concerning Macs and Viruses

Mac for the Masses

…And about those viruses. Macs don’t get them. Not usually, anyway. There is a joke about Macs and viruses that goes something like this: Using anti-virus software on a Mac is like wearing a condom while, um, pleasuring yourself…you might feel safer, but it really just gets in the way.

That is about the most moronic comment I’ve ever heard. It is that attitude toward protecting your computer that gets users in trouble. Mac and Linux viruses are on the rise and unless users get used to protecting themselves now, they will suffer the same fate as Windows users.

In order for Mac viruses to be on the rise, there needs to be an increase in the number of them. As it is now, there are 0 for Mac OS X, and there were 0 a year ago.

No increase, not on the rise.

Mac users have to allow things to be installed on a Mac. It just doesn’t happen. We have to password allow it.
