Defying Inflation

In a time where just about anything you buy now costs substantially more than it did a number of years ago, the fact that technology goes down in price—to almost impossible extremes—can be quite annoying.

Case in point—March 2003, I purchased a 256mb xD Picture Card for my digital camera. Cost: $134.78.

March 2004, I purchased a 512mb xD card. Cost: $169.00. (Note: that’s one year later, twice the capacity, and well under 50% additional cost.)

Today, a 1gb card (high speed version, in fact) arrived that I ordered last week. Cost: $43.90!

Okay, admittedly, it was on sale, but right now, at B&H, this card is still only $56.95 before shipping.
