Ty and the Gang Come To Town

So I found out this morning that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is working this week on a home in Altamonte Springs.

I hope they put in one hell of a security system. The house is located in the area of Altamonte known as “the other side of the [railroad] tracks.” (Update: a friend who went by the site told me I wasn’t quite centered on the right spot. The link above has been updated.) If the nickname of this region isn’t a clear enough description for you, I’ll spell it out—it’s highly low-income housing. I’ve seen public housing in better shape than some of the houses in this area. So, knowing very well what kinds of “toys” get installed in an Extreme Makeover house—not to mention knowing exactly what’s going in there once the show airs and they show off what all is in there—I’ll repeat, I hope they put in one hell of a security system.

The family’s wake-up call was yesterday, which means the original house is probably already gone by now and there’s not much to see. Maybe I’ll try to figure out what time the family is supposed to return on Friday and check things out.

Update: Though I couldn’t really see any of the activity that was taped, I did make it to the house when the family returned and took a few cameraphone pictures. I also just found out on the evening news that the episode featuring this house is scheduled to air in April.

I updated the Google map link again, and you can see the tiny little house the Holmes’ used to live in. And lastly, I found a site with more information about Sadie’s nonprofit charity work and a great photo gallery.
