Did You Know Music Albums Used To Be Sold On Cassettes?
The video link in the previous entry features Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) looking not quite as I remembered him. My first thought was that it was a look-alike, but then I thought maybe it was just a long time ago when he was younger, but then the video mentioned playing CDs, but then I remembered that CDs became available nearly 25 years ago…
So then I just stopped thinking. I was getting a headache.
But sheesh, have you realized CDs have been available that long? In other words there could easily be recent college graduates—not just teens—who have never purchased an album on cassette.
Of course, I never bought an eight-track tape, so someone like my dad may have thought this exact same thing about me. I guess it just seems incredible to think that the tide has turned and now I’ve seen an album format fade away, too.
And yes, I do still have (and once in a very rare while, listen to) the very first CD I ever purchased.
And no, I’m not going to tell you what it is.
But I’d like you to tell me…

I can also remember using a cassette tape to store Commodore VIC-20 computer programs. At least I’m not old enough to remember card readers.
