Give Your Forward Button a Break
At the risk of coming across insensitive, I have a pretty cut and clear statement to make. Do not forward something that comes to you by e-mail to “everyone in your address book” just because it tells you to. This includes these Amber Alert messages I’ve been seeing. If it’s truly a missing child, I definitely empathize, but sending bloated e-mails with 50 copies of the same picture and 96 point red capital letter type saying to forward it to everyone is simply not cool. There are official Amber Alert channels available via the internet and I pretty much assure you that anyone who’s inclined to pay any attention to them (including myself) have probably already seen them in official venues—not in their e-mail box. I hate to break the news to you, but the ones that circulate through e-mail have often turned out to be bogus.
