The Amazing Race—Office Style
Sorry for the LiveJournal-style entry here, but I had to comment on this year’s office Christmas social which was easily the most fun and most enjoyed event ever held in the 13 years I’ve worked there.
Planners created a mini version of The Amazing Race™ and we had the participation of nearly the entire staff—including our president. This much involvement is previously unheard of.
We broke into ten teams of four or five each with one designated driver (they even reimbursed our mileage) and set out to accomplish tasks over a 3.5-hour period. Some teams, including mine, finished in under 2.5 hours.
Some of the tasks included going to the top of a parking garage to look for balloons high in the air, then drive to find where those balloons were attached and make note of the street address. Another was sorting through a pile of I’d guess 200+ small boxes to find new instructions and two passes for a little go-kart track where we had to take a few laps on a slippery track before proceeding.
Our team arrived second, but the nature of our game was judged on several things including when we finished. We actually finished third place at a community center where we then had team photos, prizes, and a luncheon banquet.
Great job, social committee!
