Cutting the Tag

This is sort of a how-to entry.

Pop culture has always maintained the notion that it’s Bad™ to cut the tags off of linens, even though there’s no denying that once you’ve purchased them, you’re free to do whatever you want. I think, tonight, I may have committed the gadget-geek’s version of cutting the tag.

You may remember, a month ago I bought a new television. One thing that has bugged me about it is the small LED that glows when the power is on. It’s very bright—especially since where I sit is almost directly in line.

So, tonight, I decided it was time to do something about it. Enter the ubiquitous Sharpie™ fine-tipped marker. Even after a rather generous application, the ink did not clump on, rather just added a thin film of ink sufficient to block out the brilliance, yet allow enough light through for visible confirmation that it’s on.

Just a little something to make movie-watching a slight bit more enjoyable.
