Updating vs. Installing
Okay, Apple, you can do a helluva lot better than that.
I downloaded the installer to update to iTunes 5. I had it on good authority that upgrading wouldn’t require a reboot. But the installer informed me that a reboot would be required, and I backed out of the installation.
So then I manually kicked in the Software Update utility and saw the iTunes 5 update which is not requiring a reboot.
What’s wrong with this picture?

Yup something is amiss — it doesn’t take a reboot to kextload the itunes phone driver. I was also dismayed that you couldn’t uncheck the itunes phone driver during the install. I prefer NOT to pollute my kernel with random non-functional kernel extensions.
I suppose the installer feels on par with the suckage of the interface.
