So Long, Little Buddy

I don’t normally tend to make a special point to blog about celebrities who have died, but in Denver’s case, I make the exception because I had the opportunity to not only meet him, but sit around a table and just chit-chat with a small group of other students at my college. We were the students who were preparing for the school’s annual beach party (appropriately named an island party that year) and it had actually been arranged for Denver to be our guest—and it wasn’t just a short appearance. He hung out there the entire evening. Some of us chatted more with him after the event. He said he had a blast and that he couldn’t remember any other of his appearances being so much fun.

Bob Denver of ‘Gilligan’ fame dies at 70

Bob Denver, whose portrayal of goofy first mate Gilligan on the 1960s television show “Gilligan’s Island” made him an iconic figure to generations of TV viewers, has died, his agent confirmed Tuesday.
