Additional Grief At Casa Bennett

As if to add insult to injury, besides my computer grief, I’m also completely dead for internet access at home. You may have previously read here that I have had to replace an ethernet adapter, an entire wireless router, and a garage door opener, probably due to a lightning surge. I guess Bright House’s cable modem took a hit, too. I had been noticing a couple minutes of connection loss 2-3 times a week, but hadn’t had time to troubleshoot. The duration of those outages, though, suddenly started getting longer in recent days, and my friend, Jeff, informed me that he was getting massive packet loss while pinging my router.

Well, last night, it appears the modem finally pooped out. It powers up, but the cable light just blinks—never goes solid. And I can’t get a service appointment until tomorrow late afternoon.

Suffice to say, my photo albums are offline until this problem is resolved.

I repeat … dammit!

One of the nice things about moving away from Florida is that I just don’t have the lightning problems anymore.
