Rock On
Living in western Washington, my land is covered in rocks. I learned the hard way to go through and pick up rocks around the size of my fist or larger. I hit a rock the other day that caught one of the blades on my lawn tractor just right. The sudden stop and the force of the torque on the shaft snapped the housing at all four bolt points. Luckily, that housing is only costing me about $35 to replace.
The good news is that Husqvarna did a terrific job in their design such that it would be nearly impossible to damage much more than about $100 worth of parts per blade, and you’d have to be extremely unlucky or stupid to damage all those parts. I’ll have to claim stupidity in not picking up rocks before trying to mow that part of my property.
