Bad Movie Night

I realize Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow didn’t fare too well with critics, but that’s usually never stopped me from at least enjoying a movie.

Let’s not mince words. The movie sucks. Badly.

Also, I’d really like to know who decided to call the main character Sky Captain. For someone who goes by that name, you’d think he’d actually be in the sky a bit more often instead of traipsing through jungles and secret bases. Thanks to a special feature, I think he spends more time flying his plane underwater than in the air.

I heard the special effects were the only good thing about the movie. True?

I didn’t even think they were outrageously spectacular, especially in this day when everyone knows that if you put people on a bluescreen stage, you can pretty much do anything you want. Call me old school, but even though I like collecting DVDs of computer generated movies, I still enjoy practical effects that are created on the set.
