Spy On Me
Am I the only one noticing this new trend in sweepstakes schemes? Companies used to lure you to purchase their products with sweepstakes where you scratch, pull, or tear off some sort of game piece. Now, all you get is a code. In order to enter the sweepstakes, you go on the web and enter a bunch of required personal information. And, if you use fake information, you can’t collect any kind of prize because they have no way of contacting you. How convenient.
People who know me know that I’m not very concerned with my privacy when it comes to my purchasing habits. But this new scheme, if I were to go along with it, guarantees that companies will now not only track what I buy, but start making direct advertisements to me via my contact info. I really hope that this scheme blows up in their face. I, for one, refuse to support it.
