Inflation, or Hot Air?

My mother was recently looking through old credit card receipts to help me find some information and came across a receipt for a trip to Epcot we took back in 1994. Initially, I was amused at the price 10 years ago, but then I was annoyed when I remembered that a one-day ticket currently costs $60. The price in 1994? $22.50!

I realize there’s inflation involved, but geez, several inflation calculators I’ve found online say that $22.50 in 1994 has about the same buying power as $28-29 today. And sure, Rat Land has added a lot of amazing things to do in the past 10 years—even within just one park for one day. But we’re talking about a 165% increase! And don’t even get me started on the additional parking fee and the cost of food inside the parks!

I’ve always blamed Micheal Eisner for the price hiking, and I’m not alone in that assessment. Walt must be turning in his grave. Oh wait, I forgot, he’s cremated.
