Cheaper Netflix
So I guess I get to end my day on a small positive note. I just got an e-mail from Netflix that prices are dropping to $17.99/month—lower than the original $19.95 which later bumped up to $21.99. It’s effective November 1. Cool.
One might wonder if Netflix is reacting to Blockbuster’s $17.49 price for a similar service which now will mail you DVDs instead of making you pick them up at the branches.
Before you’re lured by the fifty-cent savings, don’t forget that Netflix has a lot of older titles that Blockbuster no longer carries—or never did.
Oh, by the way, shame on Blockbuster’s web gurus for configuring their server such that I have to enter www.blockbuster.com instead of just blockbuster.com. I hate when domain hosts aren’t set up properly.

Whatever the case, like my brother, I’m very happy they lowered the rate. Just eats into their profit margin slightly.

The New York Times was positing that the NetFlix move was in response to rumblings about Amazon enterring the online rental business.
