May I Please Have Some Napkins?

If McDonald’s can invent a machine that is automatically fed drink orders from the drive-thru cash register and then selects the proper size cup, fills it with ice, pours the correct drink, and positions it at the second window for the worker to cap and hand to the customer, why can’t they also invent a machine that automatically puts a couple napkins in the bag, seeing as how every employee (and, occasionally a manager) is too stupid to remember to do so themselves?

Of course, if they did that, they’d only give you one napkin. That seems to be the common practice among some fast food joints these days. I once heard the comment that if a business is hurting for money so bad that they limit napkin handouts, they’re already doomed.

Nah, it would be based on number and type of items ordered. The more items, the more napkins. A ranking system could be used, as well, such as a small cheeseburger only needs one, but a Big Mac may need two or three.

Standard Mickey D’s ordering procedure in the McConnell household is as follows, “Hi, I’d like a ……… and extra napkins please.” Even then they sometimes forget them!
