Conspiracy Theory

Once is coincidence. Twice is suspicious. An almost-third time is downright peculiar.

In the first apartment complex I ever lived in, someone with the last name of Bennett had apparently lived in the same unit prior to my occupation, though not immediately prior. Judging by the type of misdelivered mail I got, I imagine it was a woman, but I never saw the first name.

In the second complex I moved to, I got lots of mail addressed to Harry Bennett (no relation)—some of it trying to collect an overdue bill. Turns out he had lived in the same apartment right before I did. Certain companies were very reluctant to believe me when I informed them I’m not him because I even got Harry’s mail for a year or two after I moved to my third (and current) apartment. It’s finally stopped.

Here in this complex, it’s been a good long while since I’ve noticed anything odd, until today. I’ve never really felt the urge to get chummy with my apartment neighbors. I generally never even know their names. But today, the mail carrier (accidentally?) placed a Cingular Wireless bill for my next door neighbor in my box. His last name is Bonet.

Tell me this isn’t weird.
